All,
I obtained around 70 pounds of dead live rock from a LFS that went out of business. Got it for all of $15 . Anyway i knew i had to cure it, so i put it in a bucket of saltwater with a power head where its been for 4 weeks. It has accumulated ammonia, nitrites and now finally nitrate levels are rising. Now that the nitrates have risen, i thought this was the point i could almost put the rock into my Display tank as most of the bacteria has died of and should cause a spike in my DT. I rinsed the water, rinsed the rock with water and am letting it sit again in knew water just to make sure residual bacteria is not on the rock. I am thinking just a couple more days, another rinse in saltwater and ill throw it in the tank. What are your suggestions, what does everyone else do at the point i am at ?
