Curing my own rock :) 1st time

Well I went and got some rock and have it curing in a rubbermaid tub from home depot, first time i have done this. And naturally i have a question. It has been 24 hours since i started curing the LR and checked the ammonia and nitrites and expectedly they are high. How often should i do water changes? My LFS said once a week but with these high levels it makes me nervous, what ya'll think?

The curing article on this site recommends 50% every other day. Really depends on how much life you want to keep on the rock. I had some rock that smelled s bad that I did water changes every day! Normally every other day is ok.
