the opening of my feather duster's tube, is torn on the side and so when he sticks out his feathers some poke out of the torn part and some through the opening, not fully extending. so i was wondering if i cut off the torn part and made a clear opening for it, would it harm the feather duster? TIA,

The duster will eventually repair or grow a new section of tube. Although it may not fully extend, I would not suggest altering the tube. You may cause further damage. The lack of extension is the worms way of protecting itself by not exposing unprotected flesh.
