Cyano et al

As you guys already know, I have been fighting a cyano battle. When I put up the new tank. I was going to use the existing sandbed. I was going to add the sandbed after the new live rock had helped to cycle the tank.

Will I just be adding a cyano problem to the new tank by using the old sand?or will the extra 100 lbs of rock, plus the 55 gallon sump, tak care of the cyano? Same questions apply to the water.

Thanks for the help.

Cyano is fueled by high nutrients and is common in new setups. I would use the old sand (at least some of it) in the sump. Put the DSB in the sump. Put only enough sand in the main tank to house some worms and to add to the aesthetics. A 55 gal sump/refugium is a real benefit.
