Dangerous Killer

Alert to possible issues in case you haven't seen these reports.

Some types of skin care and sunscreen products have been identified as killers to reefs / coral.

This also means in your/our tanks at home as well!!!!

Curious if it also could have damaging / killing effects on FW tanks.

Sunscreen also used in other products like make up and lotions

"benzophenone-2, or BP-2"
https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/news/feb14/sunscreen.html

"oxybenzone and octinoxate"
https://www.nature.com/news/hawaii-s...screen-1.21332

"titanium oxide or zinc oxide" more gentle and not found to be toxic to reefs

After reading about this a while ago and then the recent documentary Chasing Corals, I thought about the article again and then thought it could affect our tanks as well at home!
