Hi All & anyone,

Just a general question, to maintain healthy corals (SPS) should I routinely change my light? its just that recently the flowers have shrunk, nothing has changed in the set up and all water tests are ok. I know in my freshwater tank I should change the light annually to allow the plants to grow, it is the same for coral?

Thanks

Welcome to the site!
Yes, after time the light spectrum will shift. How often you change your light will determine the type and how long you run them.

Its an orca all in tank, the lights used are two 18 Watt Fluorescent PLS light tubes one blue one white.

You`ll need more intense lighting than that. But yes as Scot said the spectrum can shift causing problems.

Should I upgrade to a more powerful light then? if so what would you recommend?
Thanks

Mine is 45 liters or about 53 if you count the extra filtration. I'm running coralife 96w and everything seems to be happy. What are the dimensions of your hood? Got a picture?
