Does exposing coral skeleton to light encourage faster growth?

I've recently come across a video on youtube saying that if you place your corals at an angle to let skeletal base exposed to more light, it will grow faster. Is this true? Has anyone tried this?

If parameters are stable and things are happy, they will grow. Light is important as an energy source and they won't grow into the shade only to die.
