Exactly what kind of non live sand is exceptable to use?

Exactly what kind of non live sand is exceptable to use from my local HD or lowes. As my bottom layer?Thanx
 
South down and old caster are good to use, they are the same thing :D
 
As my bottom layer
I hope you mean to use LS as the top layer. It doesn't take much LS to make the rest of it live. All you need it is some LR and perhaps a cup or two from other tanks (of people you know and trust). Avoid the bagged sand that's sold at the LFS and is called LS.

I'm pretty sure that the HD's in Ohio have carried 'Tropical" play sand in the past. Look for it in the garden section.

I don't have a picture of the Old Castle bag which is the newest incarnation of Southdown...
 
ya just got back from the my dealer (lol) there is a whole sale guy thtra just opened to the pub, they know all and have great peices. I decided to get 3" of non and then a few lbs of live and some rubble then wait a week and add my live rock. I am pumped,Thanx for all the help
