So I wanted to know for my 20 gallon reef setup. Would it be ok to have the mechanical sponge first. Then activated carbon sponges. Then chemi pure elite. Then in the big middle chamber live rock. Then it's my return pump.

Note: the chemi pure isn't in yet.

Unless your short on rock in the DT I would put chaeto or another macro algae there with a light. Provides nitrate export much better than rocks.
