I found a piece of a brain coral for my new tank, but it seems that was painted, it has some purple stains in some places. Is there a way i can remove the purple paint? will it be safe to put it on a tank planned to be reef?
here is a picture for you

I would set it on top of the tank's hood as decoration. If you put it in the tank it will just turn to algae covered live rock. Kind of cool looking now. I have a large brain coral skeleton I found on a Caribbean beach that I have for decoration near my reef tank. Very nice.

I'd just soak it in freshwater for a few hours and scrub it.Let dry then add to tank , the life in the tank will take it over I think it is a kool idea
