Fowlr lighting

I have an aqueon florescent hood on my 29g and would i need not upgrade it for a fowlr tank? If not what bulb should i run

No need for new lights if it's a fowlr.

Ok cool i know its the wrong thread but is a protein skimmer needed?

Lol. On a 29 gallon it optional. No harm in having one but you'll do fine with just weekly water changes. Personally I think skimmers are a good idea because all the water is treated whereas pwc only get some of it.

But if you get the skimmer you still need to do pwc.
