Fragging a Branched Tree Gorgonian?

I have a branched tree thats getting a little bit for the spot that its in! Can I cut a piece and transfer it to another part of the tank or somehow trim it back without damaging the base? Thanks for the help!

Just cut a branch, strip it like wire, and then glue the inside stalk in a piece of LR... In no time it will be growing again...

Wow..it amazes me sometimes to see the things you can safely do to a coral as they are considered to be so "delicate". If they were so delicate why can you chop em up with scissors and end up with a bunch of smaller stuff from one big one? LOL
