Fragging Halimeda?

The Halimeda that is in our HOB fuge is growing real well but we'd like to put some in our son's 5 gallon long. Is it possible to frag it, if so how do I do it? I noticed the piece we have wasn't grown on a rock, do I just clip some off and stick it in the sand?

That's what I did to get it started in my fuge and it worked just fine.
