Frozen brine shrimp eggs in warm saltwater conditions...

Since I only know brine shrimps live in saltwater, I think this is a best place to ask about this.

I've met a clerk of a local aquarium store, and he keeps frozen brine shrimp eggs in the freezer. It was just when I reached home, I got curious about it.

Does frozen brine shrimp eggs hatch into healthy brine shrimps in warm saltwater? And is it the right thing to do: putting brine shrimp eggs into the freezer?

Note: The brine shrimp eggs are sealed in aluminum tin cans. They aren't opened.

This is pretty common practice. The cold puts their hatch in a "freeze" and prevents them from starting their hatch. It does not negatively effect them. You can even put fresh hatched BBS into the fridge to slow their growth and hatch less on a daily basis.

If you want to hatch brine shrimp you are better off to buy dry cysts

*edit: I have only used dry cysts and they hatch well... often within 16 hours or less. Frozen ones as long as they were packaged properly are fine.
