I've had a recent outbreak of spirorbid worms. They are starting to take over the tank. At this rate they will be everywhere, and quite unsightly, within a week or two. Is it just something that comes and goes periodically? The tank is about 3 months old now. Anything I can do to cut down or prevent them from popping up?

I would imagine when whatever there food source is begins to run out the number of them should decline rapidly...

Spirorbid worms are not harmful, in fact quite the contrary. They normally develop and proliferate in a young tank..so it should not be a surprise. If you don't like the sight of so many, scrape them off the available glass surfaces. Their population will even out in the following months.
