gsp cleaning

My gsp seems to be getting a buildup of gunk on them. How can I clean this? I regularly blow the detritus off using a turkey baster but this stuff won't come off. Can I use an old soft toothbrush to scrub this off?

Old, no but a toothbrush yes. I would get one of the soft bristled ones meant for sensitive teeth. Just gentley brush the GSP in one continuous motion and one direction, not back and forth. Be sure you do not apply any real pressure or it will pull out the polyps. Let the bristles do the work by trapping the "gunk"
