Habitat specific organisms?

I am planning on using gulf rocks from lr.com in my aquarium. Should I make an effort to purchase Atlantic/Caribbean species of fish, invertebrates, and even micro organisms to go along with the bacteria/hitch hikers found on Gulf Rock, and to create a healthy, co-existent environment, or does it matter? On a side note, is there a way to create a self reproducing food source inside my aquarium?

Doesn't really matter, unless it matters to you.

Many of the pods that reproduce in the aquarium are a food source to some animals.
