I have a branching hammer as well and I haven't ever felt the need to feed them. May be worth looking up the YouTube channel "tidalgardens" . They have a lot of feeding videos. Maybe see if/what they say for feeding hammers

You don't need to feed. They get everything they need from the water column and lighting. This is mine after 15 yrs of not targeting at feedings
