Normal for a hermit crab to moult back into its same shell?

Thought it had died cause found its exoskeleton in the tank and none of the other shells I have in the tank occupied.

It is the only inhabitant in my tank minus pods, macro algae, and live rock. And some form of sea slug I found on the glass. Crab and slug hitchhiked on my rock.

Yeah, happens all the time in my tank. Perfectly normal. They only look for shells when needed but make sure you have plenty of spares

Thank you. Had a collection of about 40 snail shells from shell collection over the years so strangely had ready when I saw him in the tank.
