Hermit disappeared?

How is everyone, I'm confused about a hermit crab I bought. I bought a red hermit crab that was pretty big, about 1 1/2 inches for around five bucks. I went away on Friday and came back on Monday and I could not find him anywhere, and I still haven't seen him. I checked under the rocks. I thought he might have died, but I cant even find his shell which was bigger than my other hermits. I liked him a lot because he had a blue fan worm growing out of his shell. Any ideas on what might have happened to him?

He also could be molting. If that's the case, you may not see him for a few days.
