High Alk

I am having a problem that seems to be unusual... My alk is high. I know what to do if it is low but what do I do when it is high? I have a 55 reef tank that has been set up for 5 mos.
thanks

What are the actual numbers in DKH or Meq/L? What is the CA and what is the mg? You can almost never go wrong with a waterchange, but before we get rid of the symptoms, let's find out what the problem is...

Also, what are you doing for maintenance? Are you adding any supplements or additives?

I too have a very high Alk at 14.7 dKh (was 16!), and am currently bringing down slowly by adding only Ca rather than my normal 2 part solution.

BTW- The cause was a bad round of top off from the LFS with too much buffer.
