hooking up mh

helping a friend with his mh retro and ran into a prob !! there are 3 wires coming from the ballast a white/black/green if i hook the green to the reflector for a ground it wont fire!! but will if its loose and not hooked up ?? is there a better place to ground the green wire?? and will i kill the ballast if i kept it off??

No it won't kill the ballst if not hooked up. You can connect the green (ground) wire to your system ground on your circuit. Just connect it to the green wire on your supply, assuming the supply is grounded at the outlet.

id guess that that the wall outlets gounded !!
