I set up an Eclipse 12gal as a hospital tank. I have an extra Hagan Aquaclear 301 powerhead I could put in it. Any reason not to have a powerhead in a hospital tank?

What setting should the 301 be on...low, med, high flow rate?
I get confused with all the calculations!

Thanks.

in your QT tank you should hopefully have a small HOB style filter with a bio-media sponge. that filter, IMO, should be all the water movement you need.

Current in your Display tank is often interupted in many locations that give fish a place to "hang out". In your QT tank there is likely nothing other that the fish and water so a high volume of water current is going require the fish to swim constantly. In the QT tank you really only need enough water flow to keep the water from feeling stagnant to the fish. If he gets exaughsted from swiming constantly it will add to the stress and harm the fish more.
