Just been diving in the Philippines... Bucket loads of coral and fish!

My dive computer records water temperature and it registered a range of 28-32degC, with the top 2-3m of water being at the higher temperature end (32degC). That's where we found most of the coral and fish...

Then again, at the lower temperature end (28degC), at 30m there seemed to be similar fish species, albeit a bit larger in size (less variety though). The coral species changed due to the light penetration.

I wonder why the recommended aquarium temperature ranges are what they are? Thoughts?

It depends on where everything is from. Most just assume all saltwater is that temp, but there are also cold water salt tanks. I'm thinking about some of the areas around Japan and some of the bay biomes people have out together.

Thanks, wow that's interesting! I suppose 98% of aquariums are of the warmer variety.
