I love mine.Makes filter cleaning a breeze.lol Plus it keep my water crystal clear and the fuge helps with the nitrates.

I keep just macro alage right now, I havent added any live rock to it. Just cheato and mangroves. But you will need a light if you go with the fuge.

Yeah I'll probably do mangroves and chaeto with an underwater led from in tank.

Sounds like a plan. 
The little led for $20 isn't too bad of a deal, I ended up getting the JBJ led magnetic light which was probably over kill LOL. I have had to trim the cheato though so it's growing hehe...and my nitrates stay at 10 or around 10 so I guess it's doing it's job.
