For years I have watched my fish interact in my outside corner reef. A fish can be on one side of the reef and not see the fish on the other end. It has created a quiet zone where less bold fish can swim to and get out of a fray. I am thinking this ability to stay out of constant sight is a good thing. Especially for tangs.

Makes sense..... tangs usually only bother each other when they're seen, not sensed. That gives one the ability to go "hide around the corner". Might work for two pairs of clowns as well?? Each pair could establish it's territory out of site of the other......

I think it might. Clowns would be another good test of the line of sight theory. People with big round or even square tanks that have a pillar reef in the center probably see this effect.
