Is fragging a Duncan "necessary"?

I have a beautiful Duncan with 6 mature heads. At the base of every head are 6-10 babies that are growing quickly, many already have central discs about the size of a dime. However, they are all basically in the shadow of their "mother" heads.



I am concerned that these new heads will be choked off because the larger heads are blocking their light. I try to target feed them, but there are so many I know I am missing some.

Is is necessary to frag it to ensure the survival of the offspring?

You can't frag them. They are too close. Feed them if you are concerned they aren't getting enough light.

They'll come out and do just fine. This is how they do their thing. Same has gone for my hammer coral as well. They will look shaded, but once they reach their mature size they will get what they need.
