Iwaki MD-100RLT

Does anyone have a Iwaki MD-100RLT water pump? I bought one new for my 180 setup and man, is this pump loud. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, were you able to quieten it any? 8O

I discovered that some of the noise was air being sucked in through the threads and teflon tape was not sealing the pipe threads adequately. I used some teflon pipe dope, and this seemed to quiet things down a bit. I also placed the pump on a 1" thick dense foam pad. This helped remove some of the vibration noise. You can still hear the pump now, but it is a level that can be tolerated.

Does your Iwaki have the American or Japanese motor on it? I have heard that the Japanese motors are quieter.

It is the Japanese motor and it has either gotten quieter, or I have just become acustomed to the sound.
