I was wodering what size tank would go nicely under my 55gal to use as a sump/refuge...bear in mind the stand is an oak stand with doors...doesn't look like alot of space to me..but who knows.
I would put as big of a tank/container as you can get underthere. I am using a rubbermaid container I got at wal-mart for like $10, although installing baffles on one of these is a difficult task.
I used a 15 gallon rubbermaid container as my sump for my 40 gallon. Bought it for less than $5. I tend to like plastic containers for sumps better than actual glass tanks. The reason for this is because I am always moving items around my sump (heater, protein skimmer, sump pump, etc...) and I feel a little safer knowing that I couldn't accidently break anything if I should drop or bang it hard against the side of the sump.
