I have heard of people having algae outbreaks from using bottled water. It was an older thread on this site I'm pretty sure actually.

As far as lighting it`s not WPG that really matters any more. With today`s technology it`s about intensity or PAR. We still use wpg but only as a vague or broad application.

Up to know I don't have Any algae problems and the tank is been running for almost 3 months now...this week, after installing the led lights, some dark purple-blackish spots have appeared all over the sand...also,last week a pair of red spots appeared on the glass and I cleaned them with the magnet but one of them appeared again...

Lowered nitrates to 0 and just added a frag of star polyp... It's doing well all opened up and with brilliant colors...
