Do i need to leave my hood light on all the time? I have both fish and live rock.

10 to 12 hours a day with a timer is best.

correct. reef's are near the tropics, and tropics have about 11 hours of light every day.

I also have the standard bulb that came with my hood. I would like to upgrade to a better bulb if possible and keep the same hood for now. Any suggestions?
