live rock rubble vs crushed coral

sorry for the ignorance, but what is the difference. could i use crushed coral in my wet dry? i would imagine it would have to be cured, but once it is cured and holds bacteria, could it then be considered live rock rubble?

Live rock rubble would already contain the beneficial bacteria needed for denitrification and proving a good area for the process to take place.
Much better option for a wet/dry.
