I'm in the process of setting my QT back up after losing my new gramma in it and I'm wondering if adding a bunch of macros from my main tank would help suck up ammonia and make it less stressful for the fish?

I know in fw tanks that the plants take up the ammonia before the bacteria but does the same thing happen in sw or do macros just take up nitrates?

Thanks
Ron.

I could be wrong, but I think the macro takes care of the Nitrates and produces Oxygen for the fish. I don't think it will do much for ammonia...........anyone????

Macros won't have any direct affect on ammonia really. They will help in consuming some organics and more simple nitrogens but they won't make an effective control for a QT.

Cheers

We built an overflow from the DIY board with PVC pipe that we're going to use to overflow our QT into a garbage can so that our QT can be 50g to keep the ammo and wc to a minimum.
