Can you mix different types of substrate. I was thinking about mixing caribsea reef sand and carbisea florida crushed coral is this a good idea or bad?

If you mix the sand and crushed coral, the sand will sink to the bottom, and you will be left with a layer of crushed coral on top. Most people dont use crushed coral because it traps a lot of waste and leads to high nitrates. hth

Agree'd. I went cheep on my sand and it was like 1/2 crushed coral and 1/2 sand and its EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!! I suggest that you just go witha very fine sand. JMO
