monti on sand bed

A friend gave me a red cap monti frag. Do you have to place them on a rock or will they grow on the sand bed if placed there? Would like it on the sand if possible

It would need to be attached to at least a small rock to keep it just above the sand bed .Otherwise junk would accumulate on it killing it.It would also depend on what lights you have.

Like ricksreef said it needs to be attached to something. It won't grow at all just on the sand

Superglue it on the side of a rock. Keep your calcium up as it needs this to grow.

Also Mg. they are sensitive to low levels of both.
