need advice please about crack on my tank

i am wanting to start a new fish salt water tank. so i bought one from a buddy of mine . well it had about 4 inches of crushed coral at the bottom and i cleaned it out and wiped the tank down with vinigar and water. the next day im ready to take it in the house and i see this little 2" in crack at the bottom of the tank in the corner. SO is there anything i can do besides replacing the whole tank?

I would not trust it. Are you sure it is a crack and not a line of silicone? I know i have been fooled before!

can i do anything about this crack i got a pic

i took a picture of it . follow the silicone line down and you will see it . it starts at the silicone line and goes down about 1 or 2" inches. i was told to cut away the old silicone and applie new but more in and out side. so any advice would be great. thanks

Just for the sake of saying it, are you 100% sure its a crack? Even if you are sure get yourself a razorblade or something with a sharp edge and just try to scrape it off. Sometimes silicone looks like a crack. I freaked out a few weeks ago when I cound a crack that looks just like that one on my 105G. Well long story short it scraped right off the glass. Fingernail won't get it, use a sharp blade.

Can't silicone a crack...
The glass is too weak there. Silicone won't make it stronger, just make it stop leaking... It will crack more and explode in the middle of the night !

Yes you can.. I believe there is an article or something in the DIY section on resealing a tank.. Just follow those directions but replace that piece of glass.. It should be pretty easy..
