I have just recieved my new 72" 125gal tank which will replace my current 48" 150gal. The new tank is 22" tall while the old one is 30" tall. The lights on the 150 are 760 watts and my question is will the 8" difference in height allow me to get away with less total wattage say around 560 watts? My current residents are LPS and shrooms but I would like to add a clam or two and mmaybe even some SPS. Thanks and Happy New Year.

If you want to keep clams and sps I would not go any lower on the wattage. The problem I see it that your 125g is longer then your old tank so you will endup with dead spots on your new tank. If lights are centered the two ends will have low light penetration or no light.
