Hello all! We just scored a nice 75 gallon with refugium etc. I have never set up a system this big and with a refugium. Plan to do a reef.

I have a 32 bio cube that is super healthy and amazing! Been in the hobby on and off 20 years...

1. How much live rock for the 75?
2. How much sand for a good deep sand bed?
3. Any other tips and tricks?

Thank you! Love the wit and wisdom of this forum[emoji4]

Just hit the 1 lbs per gallon for rock and sand. There isn't a need for a deep sand bed in the display.
If you feel you need one, you can do so in the refugium section...though the more room for algae growth is better for nutrient export.

75 lbs of rock min
place rock in before your sand this will prevent sand sifters from undermining the rocks

50lbs of sand should be perfect for a tank of that size

I always add rock and sand first than fill with water using 2 dinner plates slightly overlapping to prevent sand from going everywhere causing a giant sand storm.

look forward seeing your build
