just got a new anemone from my gf:) i was wandering if it is best to turn off the lights or keep them on. Also how i can tell if he is doing well.:)

The lighting routine does not need to be altered but depending on the intensity should run about 12 hrs/day. An anemones health is best guaged by it's color and if the mouth is tightly closed or not. In the beginning at least they will roam a fair amount until they properly acclimate to the tank and find the right spot.

What kind of anemone, what lighting do you have and how old is your set up?

Cheers
Steve

sebae anemone, 29gallon tan, two 18watt tubes, its the eclipse total marine kit

If it's a Heteractis crispa, 36 watts of lighting won't even dent it's need, NO or PC. You seriously need to unpgrade that to 2x65 watt minimum for this species. They are very light demanding as are most all the Heteractis anemone's. It does not do well when target fed regularly and prefers med-low water flow around it.

What color is it?

Cheers
Steve
