I recently bought a new lighting system for my established 15 gallon high aquarium. Befor i bought the new lightin i had a eclipse hood system. So when i bought the new light i had to get a new filter. I was just wondering if the new filter will hurt my tank because the filter is not biologicaly established like the bio wheel on my eclipse hood was.

Do you have any Live rock, live sand or a skimmer? If the eclipse was the only biological filtration you had then there may be a recycle coming. I would monitor ammonia and nitrites closely for a week or so to be sure. There will be some bacteria already in your substrate so it shouldn't take long for the new filter to become colonized. If you have LR or LS you may see little or no rise in ammonia.
