New filter...help please

I just got a eheim pro II 2028 (supper cheap on ebay!!!) i wanted to know a couple things.

first i would like to know how to introduce it to my tank(running for 1 year)...

second i have a UV sterilizer is it a good idea to connect it it the eheim's intake or outake tube?
