I went to the LFS and got a nice piece of LR for only $5 and it weighs about 7 lbs. The reason i got it so cheap is because it's flat. And the owner has been trying to sell that piece forever. Anyways.
It has great coralline all over, lots of purple and red. I Have it kinda leaning on my other live rock on a slant. When i looked at it later on i saw two little fan looking things poke out and go right back in.
Then I see these little short round things that look like the tips of bulb anemone.
What are those thing?
are those pods?
My other LR doesnt have this stuff. is the new piece more mature rock?

Thanks guys.

I cant get a good pic. the way its positioned i can't angle my camera to get a clear shot. I think they are feather dusters too. there are two of them.
Is there anything i can do to help them grow?

they are filter feeders, they do not require anything special to grow.

they will remain small, hopefully they will spread some for you over time. I had the rocks in my eel tank totally covered with them until i introduces some large hermits.

Hermits will eat them?
I have two very small hermits.
I like the featherdusters. i dont want them to get eaten.

I have hundreds of them in my tank. Very beautiful. my hermits dont mess with them. Small ones
