New sand and the dust wont settle.

I recently purchased a 40G for the sole purpose of a frag/reef tank.

I mixed 20G of fresh RO/DI salt water and 20G from my existing 150gal tank which has some fish and about a 120 lbs of LR in it. The sand is Caribsea aragonite sand. I dont want it to stagnate so should i leave a powerhead just at the surface ? or leave all water movement off for 2 - 3 days ?

as soon as bacteria begin to cover the sand it will settle. A powerhead probably wont make it take much longer. Few days and you will be fine.

Did you rinse the sand? I did mine but it still took about 4 days to settle.
