I have been using a product called Phos-buster by Carib-Sea. It works wonders at removing phosphates, however I was recently told it is not recommended for phosphate buffered freshwater. I have no clue what this is, can anyone help me out here?

Thanks,
Karl

Buffer products are used to help stabilize the PH in water. Some PH buffering products use phosphate, mainly in freshwater aquarium buffer products, to "buffer/stabilize PH. If your PH buffer says phosphate free then you are OK. (no good marine PH buffering product would use phosphate).
