I finally decided to use purigen after visiting a fellow reefers tank and he talked me into using it my question is can I use phosphate pads with it or will the purigen itself do the work for it?

I finally decided to use purigen after visiting a fellow reefers tank and he talked me into using it my question is can I use phosphate pads with it or will the purigen itself do the work for it?

Purigen is better at absorbing nitrates and selenium but does absorb ammonia and some phosphates, so I would use the pads as well. I tumble purigen, carbon and GFO.
Purigen controls ammonia, nitrites and nitrates by removing nitrogenous organic waste that would otherwise release these harmful compounds. As per their ad.

I run purigen and Gfo in a dual reactor with great success.
