question about ammonia in water

When testing for ammonia should it be clear or will ai always have a tint of yellow my lfs said it will always have a tint of yellow.....sorry new at this and trying to figure everything out

Depends on your test kit. It should show you on a color scale.

At least on the API ammonia test, a reading 0ppm will be a slight yellow tint. As AquaRick noted, it will vary depending on your test kit. Those lower levels are often really hard to distinguish between too, so try to read your level under the same light source each time otherwise you might get varying readings.
