I have a Red & Black Sea Star (Formia milleporella) from LiveAquaria. It's been in my tank for about 2 days. In the notes about this critter, it was stated quite clearly to avoid exposing it to the air, or risk infection or necrosis of an arm.

However, since I put it in the tank, it has climbed up the rocks, up the back glass, and now sits at the water line, waving one or two arms in the air 8O

Should I worry?

Water Params are 79deg F
Salinity 1.025
Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates are zero

I have Power compact daylights and actinics, 4 (2 and 2) at 96watts each

Sea stars of this type will quite commonly climb up to the surface where they can skim the surface trying to feed. I have even seen bittles do it on occassion. I wouldn't worry about it too much. How's the pH?

Cheers
Steve
