Red Sea Prizm Pro Deluxe Protein Skimmer

Anyone have any opinions on the above skimmer. Was considering it
as it is reasonably priced and can handle up to 300 gallons.

There is a guy on ebay selling them for 165. plus shipping...

I have the old prism skimmer on my 30 gal. tank and am not really happy with it, I am using Berlin's turbo skimmer on my 75 gal. reef and I am very happy with this skimmer. I have tried a couple of others but they were'nt worth the money (Big Mombassa).
im sure there are other good ones out there, someone will post there likes and dislikes and you can then study the different types and make your decision.
Good luck

I have always just use the ol seaclone. I removed the foam filter off the power head and it pulls out tons of waste. I constantly have to empty the collection cup. I know lots of people bad mouth them, but for the money, I say, "They ROCK!"

For a 175...if I had the money...I'd probably go with a downdraft, or an appropriately sized Aqua-C skimmer for some reason the EV180 sticks in my mind.

I think, for that kind of money, you can do better. I know the Seaclone looks like a mickey mouse setup, but they work. I also have used a Berlin that did a good job. I think I'd keep looking and check out the ones Kevin sugested also.

I have one of the earlier models as well. and i don't like it. For about $200 you can get a ETSS reef devil. I have one of these on my 90, and I love it... IMO, ETSS skimmers are quality skimmers and well worth the investment. I have installed a ETSS 800 on my 180 setup, and it is doing great.

AE Tech's website is http://www.superskimmer.com/.

You can usually find them cheaper from there vendors. If interested, let me know, and i can probably get you a good price on one.

I have a prizm (not deluxe) on a 29. I like it.
I have a Berlin Classic with a mag 7 pump on my 75 and love it. It would work on your 175 too. If you can get a used one cheap, you can get a mag 7 pump for around $45. A new Berlin Classic is around $150.
