Reef tank equipment

What did you guys think for a reef tank? Just normal power heads or wavemakers?

Like I have a 20 high gallon tank and wanted to see what would be best for water circulation

IMO wave makers are not effective in small tanks like 20 gal. You need to have long water surface to make a good wave.

That's what I was thinking but how much flow should be in the 20 gallon tank

Aim for 20-50x the tank size.
For example, in my 20h I run a Koralia 425 and a 250gph HOB filter.

Randomizing flow patterns are healthy for corals. Bouncing flow off of walls and corners helps, but even a cheap power strip that will alternate the power heads on and off works.

Look at the Koralias, two 425s would probably work.
