Refugium Lighting

So, what is preferred: leave lights on 24hrs or only when your main tank's lights are off?

Also, I am constructing a refugium out of 20H and was curious at to how many watts of PC should I have for it? I have not built it yet, so I am unsure to its exact water capacity is. Is 26 watts good or overkill?

Thanks in Advance!

Lighting the fuge for 24 or 12 hrs depends on the macro algae it contains. I have chaeto in my fuge and light opposite my main tank and all is great. Other types of macro need the constant lighting .
